Without a doubt the teddy bear coat is having its moment, see on the likes of Gigi Hadid to Julianne Moore, the plush jackets bring warmth and texture to any outfit. This was further ratified when Vogue profiled the look and spilled the beans on where to get Gigi's jacket. While Gigi's purse friendly Express jacket has long sold out on line - there is a curly jacket for you regardless of budget. I personally became obsessed with this look and I am happy to share my findings!
I gravitate strongly towards words of wisdom passed down by our elders or historical figures. In comes Cleo Wade, far from old but perhaps on her way to becoming historical, whom I discovered on Instagram after constantly seeing her notes pop up as liked by people I follow. After going through her feed I needed to know more. Her namesake website describes her as a "poet, artist, and speaker working across mediums, creating empowering messages (she even created a billboard for New Orleans to mark the ten year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina) to provoke emotional responses from viewers, blending simplicity with positivity, femininity and arresting honesty" and I concur. So while like everyone else I take each new year to check in, I am doing so celebrating being weird and setting the intention to be my own hero.
There is nothing I love more than loosing myself in the kitchen. More often than not it is by way of baking a batch of my favorite cookies - I am just not that confident as a cook. That is why I love when I get Blue Apron and for a few times that week channel my inner chef. I especially love when I discover a recipe that hits it out of the park and can easily be recreated without hunting down obscure ingredients. Enter the Salmon and Lemon bucatini pasta dish with Brussel Sprouts and toasted breadcrumbs. (This recipe is also perfect if opting to stay in this New Year's Eve whether hosting for two or a small group you will be sure to impress!)
Tis the season to be over-committed and overextended. Especially when it comes to keeping your spending in check. Being from a big family I usually limit Christmas gift giving to immediate family only. However, there comes a time when you want to give some of those that make the tough times a little sweeter just a little nod. Maybe you have your work squad or maybe you are part of big group of friends that all exchange gifts. That is when this list comes in!
I have realized I have a lot to share after not blogging for awhile. Rather than having to brainstorm about what to share, my recent posts have all been a sort of collection of lessons learned or favorite finds of the year. Enter Glossier the product created by Into The Gloss (THE blog of Beauty blogs) founder Emily Weiss. You may remember her as the star intern for Teen Vogue on The Hills (or maybe you don't), but, she has come a long way and was named to Forbes' 30 under 30 list this year!
If you follow Emily on instagram you will notice her skin perpetually looks insane! She always has this dewy no makeup look going on. Furthermore, her future sister in law Maria Dueñas Jacobs, Elle Accessories Editor, frequently promotes Glossier and also has that perfected theno makeup look. These two alone were reason enough for me to want to give it a try, but flip through their testimonials and every cool girl is a convert! Admittedly I did not expect miracles but I was excited to give Glossier Phase 1 set a try.
